Had a really nice night out last night. I met up with some friends/acquaintances and had dinner and just a girls night. It was nice to get out and be in different company. A bunch of us get together about once a month. We gallavant to various restaurants and I think sushi might be our next pit stop.

This weekend was busy. Saturday-day wasn’t too bad but we had plans that night. Met up with friends and had a nice supper. Never made it to the movies though. Sunday was all right. I did a little shopping and then we had lunch with Hb’s cousins. Had a good visit with them and ironed out a couple things for the upcoming family Christmas thing. Last night went to Mommy’s and had supper there. Almost left in tears because my sister and her boyfriend really upset me. I was so upset and I didn’t understand why my sister lashed out at me like that. My mom wanted me to stay so I did, for her. I finished my mom’s album of our wedding and I think my mom really liked it. I hope so anyway. It’s a bit late but I think it turned out well. I have to say I was glad to head home after dinner. Hb thinks my sister was trying to make peace but who knows. I more or less tried to ignore her. I have to learn to build up a tough skin around her but it’s difficult. She’s my sister. If I think anymore about this you may just see tears on my keyboard.

Saw the long episode of CSI Miami last night. Finally saw it. It’s been sitting on the PVR waiting to be viewed. I really like it and I have to say that it’s one of my favourite shows. My mil called last night and filled us in on additional family Christmas things. This one will have a secret santa and she told us who we got. I already know what I’m going to give to my pick. I think it’s right up their alley.
This coming month is really filling up quick.

Forgot to mention that we gave my il's their album of our wedding photos. My mil was tickled pink. I'm glad that she liked it.

We are off to The Hip concert tonight. A colleague had to sell his tickets at the last minute so I got them. The seats look great so far. I’m really looking forward to seeing them in concert. I’ll be missing my work dinner tonight though. They are off to have Hot Pot and I like Hot Pot. I really enjoyed Survivor last night. It was about time that the dynamics of this group got a good smack. I can’t wait to see what happens next week. I hope Ami gets booted. It’s too bad that she stuck around for so long. It should get interesting from now on.

Poor Hb was feeling ill yesterday and my boss said just in case he's not going to feel better today that I should take some work home. So here I am working from home today. I have to admit that I'm still in my jammies while I work away. Of course it would be nice to be able to figure out how to print to my printer here at home while logged into the server at work. The least of my complaints. Last night we picked up the latest copy of Dogs Annual. My colleague lent me a copy that she had picked up at the beginning of the year and Hb found it most useful. Now we have a copy of our own except that this copy is next years and hers was this years. Dinner was nice. We went out for dinner, didn't feel like cooking.

I do have to say that I am very proud of myself. Last night I recoded all our wedding negs to match the ones on the back of our proofs and I uploaded them all to Future Photo. Now we can get those prints out for our family and friends. I even sent a few orders in and I'm hoping they will be ready by this afternoon. We'll also send out invites to our friends and family saying the photos are up on Future Photo and they order whatever prints they want. Costco is cheaper but I can't order the photos online and I don't want to stand there and place an order. I'm lazy, I admit it. I think it's more of a convenience thing than anything else.

C'mon orders be ready soon!

It's snowing! Yay! Winter might actually be normal this time around : )

Dinner was good last night. We had a honey & maple smoked ham with french onion soup. No soup for leftovers today but we do have ham. I had a nice breakfast with the ham. I toasted an english muffin and laid the ham on it with cheese on top. Melted the cheese in the micro and voila my break-y.

Last night was fun. Our neighbours were over again to play DDR and watch The Amazing Race. It was really nice to hang out with really nice people. I think this may become a habit. Next week we are heading over to their place to watch the show. It's always nice to make new friends. In addition to DDR & AR, our kitty got a bath. She was miserable but she didn't growl at Hb this time. While he bathed her (one of our neighbours is allergic to cats) I vaccumed. We asked over the night how her allergies were and she said they were fine. So far our idea is working. I hope it continues to work. Our course kitty wanted up on laps but we turned her down and she settled under the end table and just watched us play DDR and AR.

Hb woke up this morning not feeling good. If it keeps up we're going to head home. I'm worried about him. We are also getting a storm warning too.

My niece said the sweetest thing last night when we said our Good-Byes. We were hugging and she said, "Auntie *******, will you feel this hug all the way home?" I replied, "I will feel this hug until the next time I see you." She was satisfied with that answer and then proceeded to give me more hugs and kisses. She is such a sweetie and I am so happy to see her every time we get a chance. It's hard when they are 4-5 hours away but I'm glad that they are only that far away. At least we can drive there and have a visit with them over a weekend. My nephew who is a couple years younger just blew kisses to all of us. In about 4 weeks we'll get to see them again. I really love my il's. They are such great people and I'm glad that I am a part of their family.

Yester-day went by in a blur, especially the afternoon. Had lunch with my boss and colleague and then ended up talking with another colleague and then it was time to head home. The morning went by quick too. This morning is a little slower but then again I'm only half awake. I was awake enough to find my key for work and get together a healthy lunch. On today's menu I'm having a salad without lettuce. Instead it will be a combination of avocado, red bell pepper, and cucumber dressed in basalmic vinagrette. If I'm still hungry I have mango chicken in the freezer.

I hope the rest of this day goes by quickly. I'm eager to get home and see the rest of our lawn. The sod people completed our back yard, side yard, and front yard. Yay! Except last night this area looked awfully brown compared to the rest of our yard that was installed at the beginning of the month. I hope that it will survive as it's almost the end of November. This new part of the yard is lumpy too. I shouldn't complain though...we have our yard and didn't wait as long as others had to for theirs.

Busy busy weekend. Friday after work was a bit long and by the end of the night I was exhausted. I slept in a bit on Saturday and did some stocking stuffer shopping first thing. The rest of Saturday was spent painting and then we headed out to the movies with our neighbour. We headed over to Shoeless Joes for dinner only to not eat because our server was slow. So we ended up speaking to a manager who comp'd our beverages and the one appetizer. We headed off to the show. The Polar Express is such a great Christmas movie. Wonderful for kids and wonderful for adults. It's something that I would like to get for our niece and nephew when it's available for purchase. After the movies we went home only to have the boys go out to the LCBO and the grocery store to pick up some steaks for dinner. So dinner ended up at 10:30pm on a Saturday night but the steaks were delish. They bbq'ed them along with red peppers and pan fried potatoes. The boys headed over to our house to play PS2 while us girls stayed at their house and just chatted away. I eventually walked across the driveways and headed to bed. I zonked out and slept in. Yesterday went by nice and slow. I went grocery shopping for a few things and came back with a full shopping cart's worth of groceries. It took a few trips to get all the groceries in the house all the while trying to make sure the cat doesn't run out the front door. The sod people spent the morning levelling our side yard and the last little strip of our back yard. I'm hoping we'll have the rest of our lawn in the next day or two. My sil and her family are down for the weekend and they head back up tomorrow. I was hoping they'd be able to stop by but they had a busy weekend planned out. It would've been nice for them to see that we have grass too. Ah well there is always next year.

This morning I realised on my way to work that I forgot my key and I can't get into my stuff. There are a couple things I sure wouldn't mind having for today. I'm hoping that one of my co-workers will have something for me. I think I'm going to go make myself some breakfast now. Toasted english muffin with jam.

:( Chad was booted last night. I was hoping he would win. I just hope that Amy goes soon because I don't want her to win. Julie or Leanne either. Maybe Scout or Chris but I could handle Twila or Eliza winning.

After dinner Hb, Il's and I started to paint our Christmas Village. The buildings are really starting to come together. I'm looking forward to putting them up in a little while. We still have to pick up a few things for it.

Something happened at work yesterday and I'm really disappointed by what happened. I'm not going into details but I really hope they find the person who did it. It makes me sad to know that this can happen. It's terrible that it's happened three times now and each person that it's happened to are really nice good people who certainly don't deserve it.

Finally saw The Girl Next Door. I was quite surprised by the ending. I did enjoy the movie though and it was nice to see a semi-teeny bopper comedy-ish one.

Lately I’ve been battling daily headaches. The same consistent dull throbbing that likes to move from one area of my head to another. Right now I’m trying to enjoy a nice cup of coffee. I think it’s from Cuba or Costa Rica. I’m really not too sure but it tastes better than what the office usually has. It’s a nice treat. Today was also Pizza Lunch and instead of pizza we had subs from Mr. Sub. There was quite a variety but I did avoid the Tuna. I had turkey instead. I also had some salad with it. My beverage of choice was Tropicana’s Orange Grapefruit juice. Very very yummy.

Tonight is Survivor and CSI night. CSI looks really good and so does Survivor. Dinner also promises to be really really yummy. Hb will probably be cooking the main dish. I’m hoping that there will be enough for leftovers and if there isn’t that’s okay too. A bunch of us went out for Chinese yesterday for lunch and there were a lot of leftovers. I had some for breakfast this morning and I’ll probably have some for breakfast tomorrow morning too, maybe even lunch. If not I have frozen dinner for lunch too.

Last night was the first episode of one of my favourite reality shows...The Amazing Race! Our neighbours came over to have a visit and watch the show. It was really nice being able to get to know them better. They brought over some really yummy cookies and we had made nacho dip to snack on during the show as well. Prior to the show we pulled out DDR for them to try out. We had such a blast playing it. I think we got her hooked and she hinted to her hb that she loved to get DDR for Christmas. We had such a great time that they are coming over again next week and we're going to play DDR before the show.

Unfortunately no leftovers for lunch today. We do have some yummy frozen food from the grocery store. Mango chicken. Yum.

I got a new video game!!! It's an early birthday present from Hb : )
I am now the proud owner of

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme with 2 Dance Pads

Hehehehehehehe

We played it last night and I had so much fun. I'd been eyeing this game for quite a while.

Yay!

Thank-you Hb! *hug & kiss*

The weekend was great. It was 'Our' weekend and it was really nice just having some alone time with Hb. We rented a video game and a movie, played the video game randomly over the weekend and that was fun. We have the movie until the end of the week so we'll see that some time soon. We also went Christmas light shopping and picked up a few strings of multi-coloured led lights. We put them up. I really like them. Our neighbour suggested a red and green light bulb them across our houses. I thought it was a very festive idea so we went with it. The lights were suppose to include our front door light but I nixed the idea when I/we realised that our front door light would've been red. Just a bit too creepy for Christmas, at least for me. So we had clear lights at the front door. I even convinced our neighbours on the other side to join in on the fun too! Last night everyone had their lights on and it looked great!

Last night I pulled out our Christmas stuff that was packed away in the basement. Low and behold we had more lights in there. I guess we forgot that we had bought these lights. So these lights will go in the back for the time being. These ones are the garland lights. They will actually be great in the backyard during the summer months too. We have quite a few ornaments and we've got a start on our Christmas shopping too. We just have to pick up the gifts and we're all good. Hopefully we can do that soon. I don't want to get stuck in 'the-last-minute-Christmas-shopping' rush. I'd rather have things done early and over with. Maybe I can convince the hubby to do a little shopping over the next little while.

We had a kick-ass dinner last night. Yellow curry chicken and potatoes with rice, stir-fry veggies (thai style) and shrimp spring rolls with a traditional thai dipping sauce. No plum sauce here. It was super duper yummy and we made enough for leftovers. So we've got a great lunch today, except for the spring rolls. They stayed home. I wonder what'll we'll have for dinner tonight. Hmmm...

I'm tired

My eyes don't want to stay open

Thursday, November 11, 2004

Today I worked from home. Hb had the day off so I asked my boss and she was very nice and said yes. All morning and afternoon I was sitting in our great room doing work on the laptop. It was really nice to be able to log in from home and do work instead of sitting at a desk with a lot of distractions. I drafter up letter and faxes and sent them off to print at work. It was even better that I could sit in a comfortable chair and happily work away. At various points in time our cat wanted up on my lap while I worked. I did let her up and she just laid on my lap purring away as I typed or read away. Every so often the cat would rub her face against the files and if she was feeling catty she would try to chew on the edges of the files. I like working from home. I felt more productive at home than I normally do at work. I find that there are too many distractions sometimes. If anyone had to get a hold of me they had to email me. I would then reply to their email(s). I had the radio going on in the background and while I'm busy working on whatever file I heard the radio announce that it was eleven o'clock.

Moment of Silence and Appreciation

The radio station had a whole segment on Rememberence Day and it's significance. It was really great and for those ten or so minutes I stopped working and just reflected on all the great things I have because of these courageous people. People whom I think were selfless and incredible. Thanks to them I have what I have, I live in a country where I am free. Free to be the person I am. For that I have truly grateful and I'll forever remember them. Many thanks to all the people who participated and made my life, our lives, free.

We did some serious grocery shopping yesterday and partially filled our new chest freezer :) It was so nice to be able to do a large amount of shopping. We still have more to do but we ran out of space in our cooler.

On a different note...the area between our house and our neighbours has been a dump truck highway for the sod people. Unfortunately the last couple of days have really wreaked havoc on our car and driveway. Sunday I had to give the car a running start to go over the mound of dirt to get into the driveway and this morning Hb had to be really really careful getting the car out of the driveway. This morning we're going to call the construction trailer and tell them that enough is enough. We didn't purchase and it's heading back to the dealership in just over a months time. I don't care to incur any additional expenses because the grass guys are lazy. I wouldn't mind it so much if they didn't drive over a good third of our driveway. In between our house and our link there is a huge ditch about three feet deep so we can't really drive over our neighbours driveway to get to ours. Bah, I'm glad Hb is going to call them this morning and things sorted out.

Had a great weekend and saw the R's. It was really nice to have a visit and spend time with them. We went to the market and picked up a few goodies and also had a Beavertail. Yummmmmm. We also saw Shrek 2 on Saturday night and it was even better than the last time. Sil and bil had never seen it before so it was a nice treat for them. They also went out with Hb and they had a nice break. I stayed home with the kids and spent some time with them. It was nice and it was challenging trying to figure out what S wanted. He's just a little over one so the vocab wasn't quite there and I'm not fluent in his language yet. It was fun and I hope that we bonded a bit more.

Yesterday we came home and il's bf came by to see the house. I think they were impressed. We had coffee and some goodies for them after their visit to the zoo.

By the end of the night I was pooped. I almost had a bath, almost but I was too tired.

Thursday, November 04, 2004

We got our freezer! It's awesome and now I can think about making soup in bulk for lunches and stuff. Il's were over helping us with the freezer and they stayed for supper. Mil made really yummy chicken to top the salad and I made potatoe and leek soup. I'd never made it before and with Hb's help it turned out great. Fil even had seconds!!

My photos that I sent for printing yesterday (just over a hundred of them) are ready for pick-up which is good because I need them for this afternoon. Not all of them just a small selection of them are going with my sister to Hawaii. She's heading there tomorrow for a vacation. I have a small list of things for her to bring back. I wish that Hb and I could go on vacation. Maybe we'll be able to have a little outing away in a few months even if it's only for a few days. It'll be nice to get away.

Back to the remaining balance of the photos. Those are from our trip this past summer. I'm finally getting that album done. I still have to get the wedding photos done though. That's going to take a long while. Argh. I have to match the photos up and rename all jpegs from the scanned negs. A couple years later and the negs are finally scanned. Now we just have to rename and reprint and send them off to whoever ordered them. I think I'll just try and get them done by Christmas. Everybody will be so surprised and shocked!

Wednesday, November 03, 2004

We get our Christmas gift from my il's today. Yay! Now we have to figure out where to put it. The basement is a tad untidy, okay more than a tad. But I'm really really excited about it. I can't wait for the day to end so we can go pick it up.

Tuesday, November 02, 2004

Went shopping last night. I had fun and I picked up some awesome stuff for Hallowe'en next year. I also helped Mil finish up her Christmas shopping for Hb. I also picked up a little something for him too.

Monday, November 01, 2004

Yesterday night was fantastic! We had about 43 kids, well 45, but those kids walked by because they were scared. I admit the music was creepy but I really liked our decorations. Next year it will be even better! I hope to get a couple photos up of our decorations too. My pumpkin turned out well. I carved Crush from Finding Nemo, except I modified the original stencil because it was just too time consuming. Crush turned out well and a couple people actually recognized him. I carved Dorey last year and that turned out great too. I wonder what I'll carve next year. Maybe we'll make it a cartoony Hallowe'en. It'll have to be young kid friendly but with a touch of spookiness. We even went trick or treating, our neighbours thought that it was funny.

My il's stayed with us on Saturday and that was great. I really enjoyed having them around. It was nice to be able to have them over and hang out with them. We even ordered our Christmas gift from them. Yesterday was the last day for the sale and I'm really looking forward to getting our gift on Wednesday. Yay!

Before I forget our office Hallowe'en Decoration Challenge was great! Our Haunted House them really turned out well. Hopefully some photos will go up showing the different decorations that the three teams did. Our team didn't win but that doesn't matter. We had a lot of fun and I think it really brought the office together, a lot of comraderie as the head honcho would say.
Today I get my eyes checked. Apparently I haven't had them checked in about 7 years. I know that my eyes have become worse over the last little while and I may consider discussing with the optometrist about having surgery done to correct them. I'm already a big chicken and these are my eyes. I've almost seen the full surgery done on tv and it makes me cringe. But it might be better to just get them done. Do I really want to wear glasses and contacts for the rest of my life?
