Yesterday was good. Only worked a half day and by eleven I was off for the day…Yay! On our way home stopped by two pet stores to pick up a new pad for the crate and then headed home. I spent the afternoon at home with Mochi. We played and played and played. I wanted to tire him out so he (and we) would sleep through the night. Mochi also got a taste of the outdoors. I brought him outside when it was nice and cool and we played and ran around. Parts of our lawn were taller than he was. It was so funny and it’s so cute to see him running around the yard.

Tiring him out worked. He only woke up once during the night. At least that is all I can remember this morning. I am still tired right now. I can’t wait to go home to my four day weekend.

I am tired this morning. Around 2:30am Mochi started to cry. I had to resist going down and I managaed to until it was time to get up for the day (almost 3 hours later). After my shower and sticking soft pieces of plastic on my eyes I headed down to comfort the furball. Jasmine (our cat) followed me around while I got ready and followed me downstairs until she realised I was going to go check on Mochi. Mochi was very happy to see me. We went about our morning and soon it was time for us to leave for work.

Last night was good. Had dinner with DnA and they played with Mochi. D had one eye on the game on tv and the other on Mochi. It was nice to hang out with them. It sucked that our schedules didn't allow for it last week. Hopefully we'll get a chance next week.

My co-worker P dropped me off at home yesterday after work. Hb wanted to work late so I got a ride. P came in to meet Mochi and just loved him to bits. He was very happy to be fawned over. He was so happy to see us when I walked in. He was sleeping at the time.

I hope to get a photo of our furbabies up soon. I still have to figure out how to do it.

Mochi's Home!

Hb and I were not expecting to bring Mochi home last night but we did. We went to the breeders for our usual Monday visit and we came home with Mochi. When I spoke with the breeder earlier she said that the vet gave the big thumbs up and said the pups could go home. While driving over to the breeders Hb and I tried to determine if it would be a good idea to bring him home or wait until our original Thursday pick up date. We got to the breeders and I noticed newspaper in their pen. I asked the breeder about the newspaper and she said that they are paper trained. That pretty much did it and I decided we would bring him home. Up until then I was set to wait til Thursday.

So on our way home we stopped at the pet store to pick up some food and shampoo and other such things for Mochi. We was quite good in the car and in the store. We got home and Hb set up everything for him while I played and cuddled with him. Jasmine was curious so I held Mochi out for her and they sniffed each other (nose to nose). They did this a few times over the night. Jasmine didn't hiss or swat at him. She just smelled him and walked away. She was still just as cuddly once we had his area all set up. We introduced him to our neighbours and they couldn't get over how plush-toyish he is. After they left we set in his area and played with him. We also pet the cat (who was sitting outside his area) at the same time.

He didn't make a peep all night. At least I couldn't hear him and Hb couldn't either. He was happy to see me in the morning and he woke Hb up with a lick of the nose. Mochi (as said by the breeder) did go on the newspaper. I was so happy to see that he is paper trained. Before we left we played with him and Jasmine. We also gave Mochi a bath and dried him up.

My il's are going to stop by and spend some time with him too. I can't wait to get home to see him.

I've been told my posts are getting wayyyyy to long so here's a summary of the weekend plus Thurs. Stay home Thurs and cleaned. Got ready for my sil and her fam's visit that night. They stayed the night and we had a lovely breakfast with them Fri am. Fri spent most of the day at Centreville. Went on my fave ride, The Scrambler. It was awesome. Came home Fri and Kef came over. Hung out with him and had a yummy burger for dinner. Watched Robin Williams Live on Broadway and just howled. Sat rolls around and after a nice lazy morning go to Cdn Tire and picked up our patio umbrella. Came home and Kef headed off a bit later. Then went to pick up lawnmower from the repair shop and picked up lattice for the deck too. Our neighbour had put some lattice work up earlier in the day and we liked it so much that we thought it would be nice to do that too. So we came home and did some stuff and put the umbrella up while we discussed how to put the lattice up. We wanted the underside of the deck to be accessible so we had to come up with some great engineering feat. Well not really. We went from idea to idea and finally settled on one. Underneath the stairs would have permanent lattice and the part under the deck would be removeable. Sun am we get up early and put up the lattice. By noon we had it done and it looked fabu! I'm very proud of ourselves for doing such a great job. We even got through the process relatively painlessly.

So that's my weekend in a nutshell. Today we go for a visit to the breeders to see Mochi one last time before we pick him up on Thurs. Can't wait til Thurs.

You know I think I better start exercising my short-term memory more. I can’t for the life of me figure out what has happened over the last week. All I remember is that I went to work on Thursday and came home. Friday I stayed home because the builder was coming in to fix things on our one-year list and the a/c was going to be installed. Saturday and Sunday was spent doing stuff, house stuff. Beats me what other than some grocery shopping. I remember now…Saturday we hung out with the neighbours from lunch onwards til the sun set. Sunday we did stuff, can’t remember what stuff but we did it. Monday we saw Mochi and did a bit of shopping. We picked up Mochi’s first toy from us. We got him a puppy Kong, a soft toy (frog) and a brush but the brush will go to the cat instead. Yesterday we were at Hb’s uncle’s place. We spent the afternoon and evening there. Had a great dinner that his uncle and aunt prepared. I also fell asleep in my favourite chair there. They have such a beautiful home. I’d love it there.

I forgot to mention that we get to bring Mochi home and evening early. Yay! Only 8 more days until he comes home. I can't wait.

Oh! One last thing. I've added a friends blog to my list. Check it out!

Okay so it has been just over a week. The rest of the week went by in a blur as usual. Had dinner with the il's on Fri. Sat was spent doing stuff, going to a bday party for an aunt, picking up my mom from the airport and having dinner with her. That was Sat. Sun well Sun was spent doing more stuff then going to dinner at a friends place. By the end of the weekend we actually felt like it was a real weekend that wasn't rushed. That felt good.

Mon was very interesting. After work the il's came over for dinner and to meet Mochi. We went over to the breeders and introduced them to Mochi.

Earlier in the day I gave the breeder (Linda) a call to let her know that we would be by and we'd be bringing my il's with us. While yapping away Linda told me that one of her brindles was available again. The couple that purchased him had to reneg (with regret). Immediately I started thinking that my il's may take him if they are ready to get a dog too. The original plan was for us to get a puppy and for them to get one. They were to be brothers but then we bought Mochi last week and things changed. Well it looks like Fate didn't like that change because all of a sudden a puppy was available and it was the colouring they wanted too.

So we're at Linda's and I go down to pick up Mochi (Linda has thrown her back out a few days previously). I passed him onto someone and then asked Linda which brindle was available again. She got him and I passed him onto my mil and said to them that this one became available again. Linda explained the story while my il's held and pet him. You could tell that they were enamoured by the brindle. He was such a cute cuddle bum and just let my mil look at him. After a while my mil looks at me and she quietly whispers "Is he available?" I said Yes and looked at Linda for confirmation. My mil looks at Linda and says that they just bought the brindle. I think Linda was pleased that my il's wanted him. I was really happy that they chose to get him. If Hb and I had the means to I think I would've bought the brindle too. I have to admit that I did say to my il's that I think they should get the brindle but I did stop pushing when Hb told me I was being too pushy.

You know fate has a funny way of doing things. Last week I had felt terrible for a few days because we broke our plan of getting brothers. Now that has changed and we have two beautiful loveable adorable puppies in our family. Well it'll happen in just over two weeks. Mochi and his brother aren't quite ready to come home yet. Soon, very soon. Yay!

Thursday and Friday went by in a blur. Literally. I don’t remember what happened those two days. I think Eat Sleep Work. On Friday we did get our trees planted and I left work early because my ride had to leave early so that was pretty cool. I think on Thursday maybe it was Friday; definitely Friday we got our driveways paved. It’s so nice to have it done. I think that’s it for those two days. I just remembered that we also set up our water garden in the front yard and that is another complete project. I think it turned out very well and I’m very proud of us. We also went to see our neighbour play football (aka soccer). That was fun except for the mosquitoes.

Saturday we did stuff around the house. I can’t remember what we did on Saturday either. Sunday we hung around the house. I think we did a bit of window-shopping and errands. That night Hb was really sweet and called a lady. She happens to be a Shih Tzu breeder who lives in the general area. As it so happens I had asked Hb to call on Friday but he never got the message and I had asked him to call on Saturday but he never got around to it so then I asked him again and he did. The lady said that we could go down to see the puppies that are available. I was outside at the time enjoying the weather and looking over some work that I brought home. I actually broke my rule of not doing work on the weekends. Hb called down and said that I had to go put some shoes on. I asked him why and he said we’re going to look at puppies. I was shocked ecstatic and dumbfounded all at the same time. I didn’t think Hb would call and that I would have to do it the next day. So off we went to see the puppies.

We arrived and there they all were in a playpen playing with each other. She brought the two males that were available and we both held one. We pet it and looked at them. Hb did a temperament test on the one he liked and he passed. The breeder was very nice and honest with us. She wasn’t pushy and we had a good feeling about her and the whole environment that these puppies were in. We excused ourselves to think about our next step. Were we going to put a deposit down or walk away? After discussing our options we decided to put a deposit down on one of them. We chose the brown one over the black one. We originally wanted a full brown one and we got a brown one. We got a receipt and the next thing you know we are the proud owners of a Shih Tzu puppy. She asked us if we had a name for him. We had chosen a name for our future dog many moons ago. We told her his name would be Mochi. She liked the name and told us that she would call him Mochi so that he will learn to recognize his name. The breeder said that we could stop by anytime to see him. We asked if we could stop by the next day after work and take a few photos of him. She said of course because she’s home all day with them. On our way home we were giddy and scared all at the same time. We couldn’t believe we had found Mochi. The think is that Mochi exuded Mochi and we knew he was the one.

Monday rolls around after a very restless night of sleep. Who am I kidding I barely had any sleep because I was so damn excited about the prospect of having a dog again. So I kept looking at the clock and wished that the workday would end. It finally came to an end and off we went to see Mochi with our camera in tow. We get there and just cooed over the puppies especially Mochi. The breeder set up a nice spot with some for some photos. We put him down and snap off a few of them. He was very eager to run around and play. His tail wagged when he saw us and I thought what a perfect little tail. We kept our visit short and thanked the breeder for the visit. She again said that we are more than welcome to stop by anytime.

After our visit we went to the pet store and then checked out some flooring before heading home for dinner with our neighbours. We downloaded the photos and sent them off to his parents and sis. Gave them a call and told them about the surprise. I think the reaction was positive. We showed a few photos to our neighbour and then headed off for dinner.

Dinner was great and very filling. After dinner and changing into more comfortable clothes our neighbours came over. We opened up a bottle of sparkling grape juice and had a toast. We toasted to their first anniversary, to their first pregnancy, and to our newest furbaby. The day ended on a really nice note.

Had another long weekend. Went up to see the sil and family on Friday afternoon and then off to a resort north of Montreal on Saturday afternoon. It was nice to see my niece and nephew. I can’t believe how big they have gotten in just a few months. I miss all of them but I am glad that they are only a drive away. The resort was nice. We walked around a nearby town and had poutine. Mmmm…yummy poutine. Hb did a little shopping and bought some clouds for his feet. He was very happy about that. Came home on Monday and stopped in to see my Godmum. I miss her a lot too and cried when I saw her. She recognized me and smiled. She was so surprised. She looked quite healthy so I’m just happy that she is in good health for her state and age. Had a short visit with her before heading home. Came home and yapped it up with the neighbours. It was long drive but I was glad to be home.

Yesterday was cool. We bought two trees, well one of them our neighbour chipped in. We got a beautiful Mountain Ash for our backyard. I can’t remember the name of the variety but it’ll have bright red berries for the robins to get drunk off of in the autumn. The tree we chose with the neighbours is an Ivory Silk. This tree will be right between our houses in our front yards right on the property line. It has white flowers and is quite fragrant from what I understand. It’s a member of the Lilac family. I am really looking forward to having these trees delivered and planted in our yard. They will be coming on Friday. Yay.
